Yes, Welcome Back To The MCG!

Submitted by TiM on

Hi there. Well, as you can tell from my site being offline the last couple of days, the upgrade didn't go very well. Lots of things stopped working all over the show, the most important being that anyone could read the Private stories! Not good, so after submitting a bug report with the clever people who write the software that runs my diary, I've changed back to the old code that I know works how I want it to.

Ok, you can wake up now.

We went to GreenDay on Saturday night! It ROCKED SO MUCH, we had a really really good time. The stage show was simply amazing, fireworks and theatrics, great songs, really playing to the crowd. Given how shit the support act was (A Simple Plan they're called, what a bunch of annoying shitheads) I was thinking "What a waste of money this is going to be"...

Ooops

We woke up late today and rushed around quickly, out the door in about 10 minutes. Sarah was on the phone all the way into work madly organising stuff for her work. Her work is always flat out 100miles-an-hour, thankfully things aren't quite that bad here at TelstraClear. In fact the last couple of weeks things have been quite nice and relaxed, to the point of being quite boring actually. Why progress when you can stagnate?

Monday night was heaps of fun, I got to go stand out in the middle of nowhere next to one of our roadside cabinets. These are little boxes about the side of a very large freezer chest that house a mini-exchange in them. The one I was working on seemed to be next to a very large mosquito nest, I managed to sqish about 20 of the buggers I think, only getting bitten a...

Day In The Sun

Submitted by TiM on

We woke up fairly early on Saturday morning, shuffled around for a while then went out to breakfast with Kelly and Andrea to this trendy cafe we know for breakfast. After a couple of coffees I managed to wake up enough to participate in conversation.

We went back to Sarah's place and waited for the guy to come and pickup Sarah's car, which he eventually did. He was in a real rush though, he only hung around for 5 minutes, gave Sarah the cheque, gave his daughters the keys and was off again. It's a bank cheque though so we know it's not about to bounce or anything, plus he was a nice enough guy.

After the car was sold we headed off down to the cricket! What a great day it was too, lots of cricket, heaps of sun, a few beers, hotdogs and fairly floss. Because we were...

Friday Night

Submitted by TiM on

The Man is coming to pick up Sarah's car tomorrow, bye bye little car! I'll always have not-so-fond memories of driving all the way down to Rotorua in it, 4 of us somehow squished in there. Or the time we managed to get a large TV cabinet in there plus me and Sarah, all the way from the North Shore over to Mt Eden. The TradeMe feedback from the lady we bought it from says it all:

Thanks also for a great trade - also impressed with ability to fit unit AND yourselves into such a small car - Very entertaining! - would happily recommend trader!

Another crazy day at work. My work permit got rejected because I put "Panic, throw hands in air." as my comment to their request for a contingency plan. So I wrote back and apologised for trying to inject a little humour into their dead...

Project Cricket Tickets

Submitted by TiM on

Two high power business types organise cricket tickets via email...

Tim can you take the action of getting us tickets.

Kind regards,

S. chatterton

We've just a review of the new "cricket" product and have a few design

queries, mostly around the "seating" design plan.

Some engineers are of the opinion the "ASB Stand" is a more fesible

option, given the stress likely to be placed on the units and their

cooling requirements.

I believe some of the other units less likely to be affected by the

liquid and feed requirements are considering installing the "grass"

option with prehaps a blanket addon.

Which do you think is the better solution, maximising both unit

viewing happiness and cooling requirements.

Yours in love,

Tim

Tim,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I just want to clarify, the grass option hasn't been available since the

early 1990's, due to the implementation of project...

Angry Chickens

Hi, sorry for the lack of updates, I've been a slacker.

Sunday didn't really do much, Sarah and Kelly went to the Devonport Food and Wine festival, I staryed at Sarah's place and fended off a bunch of people ringing about Sarah's car.

We've got a buyer for it now though, it's just been in the garage getting a few very minor things fixed (fan belts and raditator cap, plus oil and filter change) for the buyer, he's coming up to buy it sight unseen based on the pre-purchase vechile inspection we got done Friday.

Oscar bird is now basically fully trained, we're very proud of him. He will land on our shoulder now and really clamours to get out of his cage and often refuses quite violently to get back in. He rides around on my shoulder if I let him and yesterday he tried to help me...

Spanglish

Submitted by TiM on

Last night we managed to go and see the movie Spanglish. Pretty funny movie too, we laughed heaps and heaps. If you usually hate Adam Sandler, this movie might be just enough to make you not hate him quite so much anymore, it's really quite a well written movie without the usual Hollywood bullshit at the end.

Went out to the SPCA today, first time in ages. A couple of our old regulars have quit so today I was "in charge" of two new people. Mostly I explained what to do and who to see, it made me realise I've been there for ages as I knew the answer to most of their questions etc. Still compared to some of the girls out there (and pretty much I'm the only guy that goes these days, it must not be cool anymore) I've been there buggerall, they've been there for 10+...

Australia!!!

Submitted by TiM on

Yea! We did it! Go the Ponting!

What a great night last night was. We started of excellent and well, we finished excellent. Though you have to give it to the Kiwi's for the amount of effort that went into their costumes, us Aussies looked pretty slack by comparisson.

I'm sitting right now in the middle of Albany in some really nice park. All grass, birds chirping and ducks quacking. And I'm on the Internet. I got out my laptop and turned it on and with my wireless card managed to find someone who doesn't know how to setup their wireless properly... Free internet while sitting in a duck park. I don't know how much more geeky you can get, not much more I don't suspect!

I wish I could work here all day, but sadly there's no AC to plug into.

Back to the game last night, ponting was...

Cricket Tonight!

Submitted by TiM on

We're all going to the 20/20 cricket tonight. I've got my Aussie Cricket Shirt on for the occassion. The Kiwi's are dressing up all in beige. It's going to be a great night, no matter who wins. So many people from work are going too, heaps of people have bumped into me today and asked if I'm going, when I've asked them they've all said yes! It's going to be packed out.

C'Mon Aussie, C'Mon, C'Mon!

Things I Frikking Hate

Why the hell do people feel the need to bring their newborn babies into work? Is it to show them off? I don't bring Oscar in here to chirp all day and piss everyone off. This is because work is a place of work, not of damn screaming babies or crazy animals.

I'm sure the new baby is a joyous bundle of happiness for everyone concerned, however if people from work actually really wanted to see the baby, couldn't those people drive over after work to see it? I do not need said bundle-of-joy screaming in my earhole while I'm trying to talk on the phone to people.

Last night Sarah and I went to Misson Bay to get something to eat, as did every other couple in Auckland it seems. So many couples all walking around and so many places that refused to serve us food. Hello resturant people...
