Flat hunting is depressing

Submitted by TiM on

I'm getting really annoyed with flat hunting. I keep finding only sucky ones, ones that have no off-street parking (I can't insure my car unless I have this, it's a PITA. No, I will NOT sell my car so don't even post suggesting this!!!!) or ones that already have 500 people in the queue and I'm unlikely to even get a chance to have a look. I hate being Tim Harman of No Fixed Address.

At least Sarah's new place is working out really well. The ant problem is almost gone thanks to lots of ant-killer liquid and the lights not working problem has been fixed by the electrician. The dampness has also gone now thanks to uber-debumidifying. Overall it's a great place, just a little smaller than before's the only problem.

Hopefully my website will be back up by the end of the week, I had to unplug it...

Flat Hunting

Submitted by TiM on

Hi people!

It's been a totally crap weekend in Auckland, rain rain rain.

I've been out and about flat hunting and I forgot just what a prick of a job it is. I've been looking in the slightly higher price bracket this time, but all I seem to get is crazies. One place I went to look at yesterday had 7 people living there (including twomarried couples). It wasn't really "flatmate wanted" it was "person wanted for boarding house being run by crazy" I just went to look at a really nice place then but I get the impression the people showing it had already made up their mind to take someone else.

Apart from that, not much else happening. I have been helping Sarah unpack boxes and move stuff around in their new house. The ant problem hasn't really gone away, though I keep finding heaps of them...

Flat and not working (and that's just my car battery!)

Submitted by TiM on

I left my lights on when I got to work this morning. I wondered why my car was making a sad little "wahh wahh wahhh" sound when I approached it. The car battery went flat, the car alarm kicked in (thinks someone's fiddling with the voltage wires) and then the battery in the alarm goes flat from all the screaming. I've just called 0800 JUMP ME and asked them to bring me a new battery.

Well I have a nice shiny new battery now, a good thing too with winter coming up. It's been raining really heavily here for the last couple of days, there's more terrible flooding in the south of the North Island. Poor people, this is the second time in twelve months I think (Though it could be a totally different area)

Dad's doing REALLY well! They took his catheter out yesterday so now (apart from a...

All Good Things Come To An End

Which is why I resigned from TelstraClear today! For those that have been reading the Private Bits of this website that will come as no shock as I've been looking for quite a while and sorting out the final bits and pieces.
In other exciting news, Sarah's move went quite well though it was very long and painful! The carpet in the new place wasn't dry so we had to double handle everything, none of the people who'd said they'd show up showed up to help.

I am never moving house with the flu again either. I nearly passed out a few times and I've never done that before. After a good sleep in all day yesterday I am feeling pretty much back to 100% today.

Will update a bit more later on!

Back Home

Submitted by TiM on

I'm back home now, with one hell of a seriously bad cold. Can you believe it? I started to feel crap on Thursday morning and by Thursday night when I flew out I wasn't feeling well at all.

At least I got to catch up with Mum and Bill (and poor old Geraldine, she's very old now!) for a couple of hours. Had a terrible nights sleep though, I always get really bad nightmares when I'm sick. I slept all the way on the flight from Sydney to Auckland. Got home to Sarah's place (I'm homeless rememeber!) and slept in until 12pm today.

I pilled myself up good and proper and have been helping the girls to pack and move everything. They've just got off now to get a trailer to move all the big stuff, I'm having a nice sit down and a cold drink. Oscar's outside chirping his...

Dad's Back Home

Submitted by TiM on

Dad's back home from Hospital today! His recovery has been really good and it's great to see him out of hospital. I've got my flight up to Sydney (to visit mum) booked for Thursday night and then flying home to Auckland on Saturday.

Had lunch today with Rob, Denny and Julian to say goodbye! Hopefully I'll be back in Tasmania soon again though, I love coming back here. One because it's a nice break from work but mostly just to see everyone and see what's happening with them.

Back to work on Monday... I have a fairly good idea it's going to be interesting.

Busy Busy

Submitted by TiM on

Hi people.

Been a busy few days as I rush around and visit people, while also checking in on dad on a daily basis. He's doing really really well, the Dr today told him he'll be allowed to come home tomorrow which is really great news. I'm so relieved that everything's gone this well, he'll be recovered and back on his feet fully in no time.

Things I've done!

Sunday morning I had lunch with a bunch of people (Rob, Denny, Miley, Toby, Julian, Tim Laree, Adele, Jade, Crystal and Duncan - Hope I didn't miss anyone)

We had a big breakfast feast, bacon eggs toast fruit fruitjuice and more. So yummo!

Monday I went down to Rob and Denny's and spent the morning with Toby and Miley looking after them while Denny had a rest. I changed my first ever nappy too, Denny said I didn't do too bad...

Tasmania

Submitted by TiM on

For those that don't know, I'm currently in Tasmania. I've known for a while I'd be visiting (my Dad's in hospital) but I didn't post on my website because I wanted to surprise a few people, which I have since done. Poor Simone got the shock of her life when I rang the doorbell while talking to her on my mobile phone. One minute she thought I was talking to her from Auckland, the next I am standing on the doorstep.

Dad's doing really well, his operation went excellently and he's recovering from it nicely. Hopefully he'll be out of hospital by the time I leave on Friday but I'm not sure if he will be or not.

Last night I went out with Rob, Denny, Julian, Tim and a bunch of other people to play laser games, then we all went out to dinner. After that I went out...

There's No Milk!

Submitted by TiM on

Hello.

This morning I got up and had a cup of tea and there was not very much milk and I was quite depressed about this fact. Then I decided I would have some musli but there wasn't any. Also quite depressing. Stay tuned as I update my diary all day with things that I have eaten (Hi Denny!)

Ok so I'm just being stupid.

Not much happening this week, Monday and Tuesday were quite busy at work... I have been finishing off a number of things ready to hand over to someone else as I am doing something else for the rest of the week, should be pretty interesting. I'll post more about it later on.

Sarah's doing quite well, she's still staying at home and resting. I think she'll be back at work next week though, just taking it fairly easy.

Got my car back yesterday, the bumper...

Switch Swappin'

Submitted by TiM on

Hi people, 6am in the morning and I'm having a beer! I haven't been to sleep yet though, just got back from work. I'm all wired on caffine after my big switch swap saga tonight. The last week I've been organising the replacement of 9 bits of our core equipment in a 5 hour window! We did it tonight, though we only got 8 of them swapped. Still I'm pretty damn happy with the result, a good team effort all around.

Sarah's doing really well, still a bit sore and stiff in places from the surgery but overall OK. We're a bit upset with the hospital for just letting her out without any information or followup treatment. She's been to see the GP since and he's been really good, along with the nurse there, tell her about bandages and wound dressings etc. Stuff they should tell you in the hospital...
