Fek

Submitted by TiM on

First day with Prophecy and I'm in bed at home crook as a dog. I went to bed Friday night and could really smell the new futon, to the point of irritating my throat. When I woke up in the morning I thought Sarah would be the same, especially as she gets Asthma quite bad sometimes. But she was fine, so I thought prehaps I was having an alergic reaction or something. But no, it's just a nice throat/chest infection, it's not the flu as I pretty much feel OK otherwise (ie I'm still hungry and eating etc)

Anyway, at least one good thing comes out of it and that's that it's not my futon giving me grief!

Saturday we went shopping (even though I wasn't feeling tiptop) and bought stuff, a new bookshelf for me, a new travlling cage for Oscar (a little one, so he can come and...

It's A Hard Life On The Road

Submitted by TiM on

Well yesterday was a busy day but so was today! I hired myself a hugeness two tonne truck to move the last of my stuff out of my storage locker, plus stuff of mine (couches and chairs) that were still at Sarah's place.

It was a big scary at first driving Mr Truck around but I soon got used to it's funny quirks and weridnesses, it's not really that different to driving my MR2 apart from it's got no guts, it's hell-scary in the wind (I drove over the bridge) and well, it's actually nothing like my MR2.

Yesterday was a busy day too as I posted, I bought a futon, got the landlady to open up the PABX doors, bought stuff for my apartment (dishes, foodstuffs, electrical goods) and unpacked a heap of stuff. I also went shopping for a bookcase but couldn't find one I liked so I...

Jobless

Submitted by TiM on

Hello people, yes I'm still alive. Busy week!

Monday the Telecom man came to connect up my phoneline, but was unable as we didn't have a key to the PABX room in my apartment building. I rang the landlord to get it sorted and she told me a long story about how she's not managing the building this month blah blah. Anyway, still nothing has happened there so I am without phone or Internet at home still.

Tuesday was my last day at work, I didn't really do much except pack the last of my belongings into a box, laugh manically as Matt resigned as well (the second of probably quite a few), he's off to work at Vodafone on their cool new network, lucky bastard.

I had an exit Interview, we had to laugh even more when we realised that the HR lady interviewing me had also resigned. Last...

Hi machines, how are you today?

I'd say “Uber Machines” but 'Uber' is a word I have been using WAY too much the last week so I am not going to say it anymore. It's been a good weekend!

Friday night my workmate Paul was very kind in helping me move a bunch of my stuff from my storage locker to my new apartment. We almost got all of it in his truck but not quite... A few things are still sitting around in my lockup. Most of the important stuff made it though (stereo, CD's, books, cooking items etc) so there's not much left to do.

After Paul left I went outside to find my old flatmate Gary (I'd told him to park in xxx Street when in fact I meant he should have been parked in xxx Square... 10 minutes apart from each other)

Once I eventually found...

Joy Bong

Submitted by TiM on

We went to Joy Bong for dinner tonight, one of our favourite places to eat (really good Thai) The toilets there are confusion, the doors are labelled "Joy" and "Bong"

Sarah thinks it's obvious the boys are "Bong", I had to guess last time (and thankfully was right)

Oh yes I was also very impressed with Joy Bong, they had Boags Premium on the menu! First resturant I've been into that has Boags... It's moving up in the world.

The laptop for my new job arrived today, what a beastly machine it is! It's got EVERYTHING a geeko like me could want in a computer. Everything's built in, wireless, ethernet, bluetooth, DVD re-writer. Huge screen and eay to use keyboard. I'm loving it!

I'm ment to be organising my leaving bash next Tuesday, the company has agreed to put up $15 for each person attending. Gone are the days of...

Uber Update

Submitted by TiM on

Well not really uber, but hey. It's an update and we don't really have those very often these days do we? No kiddies, we don't.

So I had a super busy weekend for a long weekend! On Sunday we got up nice and late and went out to the Henderson Mall to pickup my lovely pants that have been resized to fit me. Resized? I mean hemmed. On the way out there we went to the Bird Barn which has lots of cool and interesting Chirpus' to look at, including this friendly guy and an actual fluffy chicken (Oscar's other nickname)

Speaking of cute Chirpuses, check this out!

Sunday night we went to see the movie "A Lot Like Love" which I didn't really think much of but Sarah really enjoyed. Too predictable for my liking.

Which reminds me, on Saturday night we watched Mulholland Drive which has to be...

Victory!

Finally, I have a place. A primo place! It's on K-Road in town so it's close to everything. It has secure parking, huge room and lounge, nice big walk-in wardrobe, washer and dryer (in one, what a cool device)

The only thing is, it's quite expensive! But it's within the range I set for myself so I'm happy about that. I'm just waiting on the landlord person to email me the forms. I'll send her my references and I'll be home-sweet-home!

Happy June!

Submitted by TiM on

Hello everyone, happy June from Oscar Chirpus!

Flat hunting is going ok, I went and looked at place that seems quite nice tonight. Nice little lounge, big room, parking. I am also going to look at another place tomorrow night though, it was advertised to internal Vodafone people and Sarah forward it to me. It sounds *perfect* so fingers crossed!

Work is winding down though I am doing my last ever maintence window this weekend, which is a bugger as it's a long weekend. We've got stuff to do around Auckland though and getting out of the city on a long weekend is such a hassle, you spend the long weekend just recovering from the drive!

Last Sunday Sarah and I went shopping, lots of different shoppings but the most terrible was clothes shopping for my new job. In the end Sarah managed to drag me into a place called...

Must *whack* remain *whack* calm *whack*

I'm getting SO frustrated with flat hunting. I'm sure you know this already.

I didn't get that really nice place I looked at on Tuesday.

Today I looked at 2 places and rung about 20 others. The first place I looked at was quite nice, 2 bedrooms downstairs. But there was an older guy upstairs and I just don't think we'd get on very well. A shame, because it was a nice place although it was right on a main road so quite noisy.

The second place I went to look at, I rang the guy and he said "Sorry I'm not home, didn't you get my text saying the place is taken sorry?" No, I didn't get the text. 5 minutes after I hung up from him, I got his text message and he wasn't lying, he had sent it about 45 minutes before. It's just with Vodafone's free...

Beaker Lives!

Submitted by TiM on

Thanks again to Tony, beaker.muppetz.com/tjharman.com is up and running again on a Sun Sparc that lives in Napier! It was quite a mission to get my website back online, even though it seems like quite a simple page it's got a heap of little bits of software running in the background to keep it fast and zippy. Getting these things to work on the new machine (which is totally different in many ways to the old one) was quite a challenge.

After a day of hacking and reading through lines of Database crap, here we are back online!

I went to look at the most primo flat today! Here is it online. The most massive room I've ever seen with a ensuite. They are showing two more people through it though so I won't find out until tomorrow who they have decided to pick. Arrrgh I hope it's me...
