Lazy Sunday Morning

Submitted by TiM on

I got up nice and early because I thought we were going to go to this little thing. It seems the original instigator (sp?) of this plan has other ideas, namely lie in bed and sleep! It is pretty freezing cold today so I can understand that point of view.

I waited all morning yesterday for the courier guy, finally he rang about 1pm and told me he was an hour away. Hour and a half later he was outside my place. We needed two people to lift the Tele off the truck (though somehow he'd managed to get it on there himself) He helped me get it into the lift and then was gone! Once in my apartment Sarah helped me heft it onto the table where it's now staying. It's certainly a two person job to move!

After Tele arrived we walked down into town to go...

Where The Fek Is UberTele?

Submitted by TiM on

I rang up today to find out when my lovely new Tele would be arriving. I knew I was in trouble when she said "Umm, what? No record of that number, what is it you're expecting?" When I said "A large TV" she said "Ohhh, we wondered who's TV that was sitting here!" Grrrrrrr. So I got a bit grumpy at them and they said they'd deliever it tomorrow. I wrote to the guy I'd bought it off (and who had arranged the courier) and he must have fired them up a notch because I got a call back from the same lady saying she'd "remembered" they did Saturday delivery and I'd be getting it tomorrow.

Here's a few rather uninteresting photos taken in my new apartment and one of the door leading into the lobby. Cool huh? Well, I like it here and that's the main thing!

Miserable Day But Who Cares!!! UBER Tele Is On Its Way!

Submitted by TiM on

Hello people! It's a shitus day in Auckland today, rain rain and more rain. Not that I was planning on sunbathing on K' Road, it actually makes me feel better that I'm sitting inside when I know it's squirting outside.

Either way it doesn't matter because I just got myself the Uber Television! It should be arriving on Friday. We had a look at the same Tele in Noel Lemming about a week ago but it was $1,400 there so we got a nice saving I think.

My day in Wellington went really well yesterday, I met up with a couple of techie guys who I thought would look at my doco I wrote up a few days ago and go "Ahhh hahah hahaha haha" but instead they said "Wow, this is really good, a great summary" That's what the other guys had said too much it ment a...

Wellington

Submitted by TiM on

Just landed in Wellington, I'm down here again for the day.

It's not as nice as it was the other week, it's all overcast, miserable and wet today. It's not raining though which is a bonus. We're driving around the bays at the moment, last week I was wishing I'd brought the digital camera, this week my laptop is much more interesting.

We went out for tea last night to GPF in Ponsonby and had a really nice meal. For once we got decent service, food within a good timeframe and drinks soon after we ordered them! Usually when we go out they take one look at my dag factor and ignore us for the rest of the night.

I took Sarah out for dinner because when we was at work she accidently managed to shutdown their Intranet. Well, it wasn't her fault exactly but she felt like it was...

The Weekend That Wasn't!

Submitted by TiM on

Where did the weekend go? Sunday night and it doesn't seem like tomorrow should be a work day!

Friday night I didn't really do much, stayed at home then took my car out for a bit of blast around the place! Saturday was spent sleeping in for ages, Sarah came over but mostly slept the whole day due to the big screaming party she'd been to on Friday night.

Today we didn't really do a real lot either! Got out of bed late, Sarah went into work to do some stuff for a couple of hours. I tided my apartment up... The carpet is black so it gets dirty very quickly. Well I guess no quicker than any other carpet but you can notice it. My poor old vacuum cleaner is not used to being used anymore than about 4 times a year, now I have to use it every...

Finally!

Got my document finished today and submitted to the client. They emailed me back in about an hour to say they were very happy with it and the layout was excellent. That was the one thing I was worried about, was it too informal or "not right"

I'm a techie, not a document man! It worked out well in the end though so I'm happy with that.

Went for a huge walk tonight, 2 hours it took me! Been ages since I've been for a big power walk and it was nice, though the problem with living in the city like this is that you can't really walk anywhere to get away from all the pollution. I recall reading something ages ago that said you should walk early in the mornings instead of at night because there's a lot less pollution then. That's all well and good but it's damn...

Buying A Television

Submitted by TiM on

Hi people, sorry I have been so slack in updating!

My new job is going well, haven't really been doing a real lot though.

On Thursday I had my first real outing as a Prophecy member, got all dressed up (sans tie) and went into town to met a prospective client. You would have been proud Mum, shiny shoes, decent shirt, nice pants/slacks/whatever-they're-called-these days.

Friday I was up very early to catch my flight down to Wellington for the day. Made it down there with only a little shaking around (flying to Welly can often be very rough) and met my second client in two days! I was a little nervous about this one as I wasn't sure what work I would be doing for them. I was worried that it would be out of my knowledge area. Once it was explained to me what I'd be doing though I...

Comments / Compliments:

Hi There Chip People!

Whoever invented these Salt and Vinegar Chips with Lime needs a pay rise.

A Big one.

These are the tastiest things in the world. Well, apart from curry. And beer. But regardless, you don't often get chippies this good anymore. Very tasty, thanks to the boffin(s) who invented these bad boys.

In fact all these Uppercut chippies are pretty good apart from the green curry ones. My Girlfriend says they smell like feet. I actually quite enjoyed eating them (by myself), but she does kinda have a point on the whole foot smell thing.

Basically Thanks and Yum.

Tim

It's Shoe Time!

Submitted by TiM on

Hello! Felt much better on Tuesday though still not 100%
Talked online to my new workmates for a bit, had a play with a couple of servers and generally got the idea of how stuff fits together.
Tomorrow morning I have a meeting with a potential client, so I've got the shirt, pants and just-bought-today shoes all ready to go.
Friday I will be flying down to Wellington for the day to do some other work.

So I haven't really been doing too much stuff yet, but the next 2 days are going to be interesting (in a good way)

Can't be bothered with a long writeup, so this is all you get!
