Not Moving

Submitted by TiM on

I should have mentioned on Sunday that I have decided not to move. Mum's comment in the 2 stories previous is exactly how I think about it too. It would be nice to have the extra room and the cool view of K'Rd, but the hassle of moving the power bills, the phone disconnected and reconnected (I just know Telecom would be charging me uber for that) along with the extra rent, it's just not worth it. So I'll stay here till my 6 month lease runs out and then look @ the property market... That's the plan anyway.

Swimming yesterday morning was good fun! I walked down about 7:20am and we went swimming for about 30 minutes. Well Sarah went swimming I went floundering around in the pool for muppets. I proved to Sarah that I can swim 50 metres, even though most of it was just staying afloat...

The Pinnacle Of Excitment

Submitted by TiM on

I bought a new iron today! SO exciting! My current one didn't work anymore (no steam), the new one is very steamy and exciting.

Didn't do much else with the weekend, Friday night Sarah and I went out with some of her workmates for some drinking and dancing. Saturday we went over to Sarah's place to hang out, watched the most insane movie last night called I Love Huckabees. It didn't really make much sense. It's humour wasn't very funny and mostly Sarah and I sat there thinking "this can't get any stupider" then it would werid it up another notch.

Sunday night and I'm back in my apartment watching the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I remember when I was in school all the kids talking about it, it was this amazing movie. None of us had ever seen it but everyone claimed to know someone who knew someone who's...

Still Crappy!

Submitted by TiM on

Still wet and crappy in Auckland, what's new?

Sarah came home early today and she noticed that one of the apartment doors on my level was wide open (there's only 4 units per floor)

She stuck her head in and said I should have a look too, so I went and had a quick squizzy. It's REALLY nice! It looks out over K-Road (much cooler than looking at a boring carpark), it's got a much better layout. So I rang the property manager and had a chat to her, she said she was going to be here in a few minutes. So I met up with her and she gave me a proper look around. I'm not sure if I'll take it yet, it's another $35 a week on top of what I'm paying here. But it IS really nice! I'll take Sarah's advice and try and talk her down...

Wet Crappy Night In Auckland

Submitted by TiM on

It's pissing with rain tonight! I've just dropped Sarah off at her first camera class at the Auckland Art School. It sounds really interesting, something I should have done when I bought my camera. It's not a digital camera course, it's a good ol' film camera! You don't see those around much anymore.

Oscar chirpus is running around the bottom of his cage begging to be let out. I've already let him out a few times today and he's being a little shit biting, so he can stay running around the floor of his cage. Nitwit bird.

We went out last night with Sarah's dad for dinner and went to one of our favourite places called JoyBong. That's the place with the toilets labelled "Joy" and "Bong" instead of Boy and Girl. I still have to pause for a second before I walk in, for fear of walking in the...

Understanding IEEE

Submitted by TiM on

I've been reading these today. Very interesting reading I can tell you. Oh wait, did I say interesting? Actually hard slog! But at least I understand the bits I need to understand... now. Took a while to get it drilled into the ol' brain.

There's a cool site in NZ called FirstIn. Basically they have a limited number of whatevers on sale for today only. Today's item is a $1,500 coffee machine. It would be nice! You just press a button and coffee comes out. I'm not quite that lazy (yet) though.

Had a good weekend, lazed around for most of Saturday, Saturday night Gary (old flatmate) came over and we watched Terminator 2 on Uber, drank some lagers and went and played pool. Sunday was spent mostly lying in bed snoozing and watching Futurama, which I may or may not have already mentioned I love. It's one of...

Silly Kiwis - Who Cares?

Submitted by TiM on

The massive massive story in New Zealand at the moment is that two celebs have been busted for some really stupidly minor drugs thing. Well, one supplying which probably isn't so minor and one for prehaps buying some, or something. I don't know, I have paid fark all attention to it. But not the rest of New Zealand which has basically come to a standstill. Why? Because the two celebs have name supression. So every email and message board posting is about the stupid thing. Is it Blah? Is it "Blah Blah? Do you know who it is? Do you care?"

The names are already out in the open on the Internet, there's spoof emails going around about one of the companies involved. The news last night even had a piece about the drugs story then a totally random "And in other news company X went down 20% today"...

Want Some Gloves?

Submitted by TiM on

Driving to Sarah's place this morning to pickup something she accidently left behind, I was on her scooter. I stopped at some traffic lights and was furiously rubbing my hands together because I was fecking cold (it's freezing in Auckland this morning)

Then this lady in the car in front of me started waving something out of her window. I looked at it for a second then realised she was offering me a pair of woollen gloves to keep my hands warm! How nice is that? There are some decent people left in Auckland.

Went to a meeting out in Penrose yesterday with some new clients. Went quite well I think, even though my clothes were a bit wrinkled. My stupid iron has decided it won't give out steam anymore even though it's on steam mode. Thus shirts are nearly impossible to get ironed properly. Laundry just hates me it...

Ok, So

I'm not good at updating everyday, so it's just not going to happen.

We had a good day today, Sarah got up early and went to her step class, I got up and played with Oscar for a while, then played GTA3 on my PS2 for a while. It's nice to have a big widescreen to play it on.

Then we went down to this cool little cafe called Habanero's near my place for breakfast. Yummo. Then we went out shopping to Dressssssmart. Neither of us found anything to buy though.

We came home, walked to Ponsonby to get DVDs and stopped in at this really cool place called The Italian Grocer

Now we're back at my place cooking yummo stuffs for dinner while watching the crappest TV ever (Top of the Pops) and listening to Oscar screech at us. I can't blame him though, listening to Backstreet Boys...

Another Leaving Do!

Submitted by TiM on

Matt from TelstraClear is leaving TClear today, so I'm going down to the pub to see him off (as well at catchup with my old workmates) Should be good, we're going to the same pub we went to last time, they were really cool, they let us stay late while they packed up and even bought us over a free round of drinks to celebrate with us! Wonder if we'll get that treatment again (let's hope so!)

I re-strung the strings on my electric guitar on the weekend, it's amazing how much different (better) it sound with new strings! Having said that, the strings had been on there for 5 years and coated your fingers with werid metallic black goop everytime you played them. Now if only replacing the strings made my playing better. Prehaps I can pay $12.95 and buy a packet of new fingers?

The sun's streaming in...

Oscar Visits Again

Submitted by TiM on

Oscar's staying with me again for the next few days while Sarah's house gets painted. He's SO loud it's hard to work!

Sarah's landlord rang up at 9:45pm PM last night to tell her that as well as the bedroom that they'd already organised to paint, they'd also be painting the loungeroom. When the girls got a bit mad at her (I mean, less than 12 hours notice is pretty crap) she said "What, don't you want to house painted?" I don't think your landlord is allowed to blackmail you.

Work is going well! I sent out another document to the Govt Dept I'm doing work for. I feel quite impressed when I see what I'd actually managed to type up, with references and the like. I still get someone else to proof read it for me, I'm a little crappy with some of the wording so Jonny fixes that...
