Foo Fightin'

Submitted by TiM on

Still here! Looks like Dec 5th might be the day I'm expected back there, at least talking to Nuno online he said that's when they've asked him back.

I've got a meeting tonight at 5pm on Skype with someone to discuss it a bit more.

Foo Fighters tomorrow night, that's gonna be good! I was amazed I was still here for the Vodafone XMas party but to be here for the Foo's is excellent, they've sold out! I knew they would, I was on the site at 9am reloading it every 10 seconds until the tickets became available.

Not a real lot else to tell you really, that's why it's been a week devoid of posts. Work has been really good this week, lots to keep me interested and doing stuff. It's been good to really knuckle down again and go "Right! Stuff To Do!" instead of how it's been...

Much better weekend than the last one...

Had a much better weekend this weekend than the last one!

Friday night I had a few drinks with the guys from WxC at their favourite pub. They are so well known there that the manager says bye to them on her way out and the bar staff will top up the chips and dips at their command. I wish I had a pub that treated me like that.

Saturday morning we did the final bits of shopping for the Vodafone Christmas party that night. We got some clip-on earrings for me (that I forgot to wear -duh!) and some other bits n pieces for Sarah.

We had a pre-party at Sarah's place so that everyone could arrived there in costume (there's nothing worse than arriving to a big costume party by yourself) and poor Sarah was getting upset because it was 5:30 and no one had arrived for her...

Good Morning

Hello! It's a lovely sunny Friday morning and I'm sitting on the porch at Sarah's place. Oscar's sitting in the sun chirping and clucking and waking up all the neighbours. He nearly escaped the other day, I was sitting at home with my windows open, Oscar was in his cage (all pegged up) when suddenly there was a storm of chirping and clucking and he landed on my shoulder. The determined little twit had managed to get his little beak to open one of his food dishes and because it had a peg on it (it stop him opening it) it stayed up. Thankfully he went straight to my shoulder though, so I quickly took him into the other room and closed the windows. Phew!

I got my car back yesterday, they'd had it since Tuesday. You know when it takes 2 days to get your car back that you're...

What a weekend. No fun at all, just work work work. The major work yesterday went pretty well, apart from Saturday afternoon when I found a major flaw with our design. I mean a MAJOR flaw. The documention said that the device we were working on supported 64 things, but the documentation was wrong and it only supported 4 things. This is not a good thing.
Anyway I'm really tired, miserable and want to go home! I'm still sitting out at the customer premises though, we worked from 6:30am through to about 10pm last night, with an hour in a middle of that for lunch.

So yea, not a very exciting weekend unless Rapid Spanning Tree, VRRP and Extreme Networks Purple Packet Eaters excite you. Ugh.

Work Stuff

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. It's been quite a busy week work-wise which I'm really happy about! Seems werid to say but it's true! Anyway I actually have to work most of this weekend too, it's like being back at T-Clear!

I have to prepare for tomorrow which is a huge big bunch of changes to a customers network. Basically ripping out the core of their data network and reprogramming it, then sticking it back in again! We've got a 12 hour window in which to do this. It's going to be pretty exciting. I'm all prepared for it, I've got pages of configuration changes sitting here in front of me that's all planned out.

Apart from that, not really much else going on. My car is going in to the mechanics on Tuesday to get looked at, it's got a few issues now The clutch is still...

Flames And Burning Handies

Saturday night was a crap night! God was against it, instead of being a lovely sunny night with no wind (like it was last year) it was instead overcast, raining and blowing a gale. This didn't stop us from letting off a lot of crackers though and myself burning my hand quite badly. What really annoys me is I wasn't even being stupid when I burnt my hand, I was just helping someone light a cracker. The fuse went Fzzzzzttttt right onto my hand though which now has a nice big burn mark on it.

The crackers were still good though, some guys took over the fireworks display and basically tied the fuse of about 10 crackers together at once then lit it. The show was over pretty quickly that way but while it was going it was a great show!

Sunday morning we went over to the Takapuna markets...

Saturday Mornings Rule

Sitting here stalling on tidying my apartment. I started yesterday with a MAJOR tidy of my bedroom and it's like I have a sixth sense because I got up this morning and the new building manager has sent me an email saying there's going to be a apartment inspection on Monday morning. The management of this apartment block communicates with everyone via email, this morning he stuffed up though and sent the email so we can all see each others email addresses! So now I can organise a major building takeover with all the other tennants! Yea! Or something.

Oscar's sitting here in his cage alternating between clucking disapprovingly at the music playing and chirping happily as he feeds his hump toy. His hump toy is this thing make out of coconut fibre we got him to hang up and play with, but it's turned into his "mate" because he...

It's another ELEMENO P concert this Saturday night but stupid me forgot that it's also FIRECRACKER night! Woohoo! That's the best thing about living in New Zealand, they still haven't banned them. Though already there's been quite a few stories in the media about firecrackers setting fire to peoples houses, faces, dogs and other various things you usually don't want to be engulfed in fire so I can imagine that it won't be long before the government says enough's enough.

So I won't be going to the ELEMENO P concert but that doesn't really matter because I've already seen them once this year and it was the "up close and personal" concert. This one is going to be a massive one which won't be as cool!

Sarah and I are terribly addicted to Lumines, the coolest game ever. It's on the PSP and it's like Tetris but with funky...

Costume Party

Friday night was a good night, my mate Gary came over and we had a few beers, chatted a bit, played some pool and ate kebabs! Mmmmm kebabs. I'm getting very fat again, I have to do something about that (prehaps some exercise, Tim?)

Saturday Sarah and I drove to Browns Bay to checkout all the second hand clothes shops. Browns Bay has quite a few shops and they're all a lot cheaper than the ones on K-Road. We searched around a lot of them and didn't find much good stuff, though I did find a nice fluro orange jacket that road workers wear along with a nice beanie that matched perfectly.

On the way back from Browns Bay we found a costume shop so we went in there and looked at all the funny costumes. I tried on a Vicar's costume and Sarah found a Californian Traffic Cop's uniform...

All Systems Back To Normal

Hello and sorry it's been a while since the last update but I've just been too lazy and enjoying being home to be bothered writing anything!

Not much has been happening this week, I've just been doing a bit of work here and there, went and had a customer meeting yesterday and then caught up with Tony afterwards for a couple of beers before his flight back to Napier.

Sunday night I stayed up until about 8pm before I crashed out really hard, only to wake up at about 2am and not be able to get back to sleep. I just played on my PSP until about 6am when I managed to have a little snooze, then I went over to Sarah's house to grab Oscar. I bought him back here to my place and let him fly around for ages, he had a great time. I bought him some...
