Bugger

Submitted by TiM on

I wrote a story up this morning and obviously forgot to post it. Damn!
Mum and Bill arrived yesterday, which was my first day off! Great to see them, we went out for dinner last night to Bolliwood. Today Sarah had to go to work today and Bill had a big thing for a client he had to work on so it was just me and Mum.

Anyway, we're about to go out to dinner again so I'll post a proper story soon. We're off to Tasmania tomorrow, can't wait to see everyone!

Slacker

Submitted by TiM on

I've just realised how slack I've been at updating my diary. Whoops. We have a guest staying with us from Austria at the moment. Her luggage got lost between Singapore and New Zealand though, so she's in a bit of bind at the moment. Hopefully it'll turn up later tonight or tomorrow.
It's been a really miserable weekend, it's rained the whole time. Yesterday we went to see the movie "The Lake House" which was pretty stupid and annoying. At the end of it I was confused, as I suspect were half the audiance. It's one of those movies with time travel in it and it just gets too confusing.
Today we haven't really done anything, just tided up the house and that sort of stuff.

A really short week this week! Wednesday I'm off on leave for a whole week and a bit! Mum and Bill arrive as well...

Roasties

Sarah made yummo beef roast tonight, it was really good and there's more for lunch tomorrow! I made dessert, but really mine wasn't quite as uber effort seeing as all I had to do was mix the stuff out of the packets.
We had a good weekend, Sarah's friend Cass stayed with us for a couple of nights (She's been travelling around the world) which was cool. Saturday we just lazed the whole day away which was fantastic, Sunday we went into town and bought some photo frames and a few other things.

Work's going well, but I'm looking forward to our holiday very soon. Before that though, Mum and Bill are coming to visit.

Hmm, sorry I'm so boring! Just not much to talk about! Oh, wait! We got a new wheelie bin from the council. How exciting is that???

Oh.

Stealers

Some McArse has stolen our wheelie bin! I put the rubbish out this morning like normal and when I got home tonight, gone! I don't know why anyone would want our wheelie bin, or why it was ours out of the many others in the street that was targetted! Maybe it was a cock up and someone has two wheelie bins, but I've checked the neighbours and they don't have it.

Yup, you can tell A LOT has been happening when the lead story is about our wheelie bin. The other exciting bit of news is that Sarah fixed our toilet today. It's been running for ages, she went and bought a washer and fixed it. She's more of a handyman than I am, but that's because I can't repair simple things to save myself. We got a letter in the mail yesterday saying our water usage was "higher than...

Nothing Much Happening

Submitted by TiM on

Hi everyone! Thanks very much for your kind comments and even flowers for our fluffy friend Oscar. Saturday we went and bought a little wooden box and we're putting all the feathers we find around the place in there. Oscar sure liked to shed feathers so we've already got about 10 feathers in there!

Saturday morning we got up and went and had breakfast at our favourite cafe Occum. Then we drove down to Victoria Park Market to have a look around. On the way we stopped in at a Shell service station and A MAN PUMPED OUR PETROL. It was amazing. A service station where they still pump your petrol. I think it's the first time it's happened since I moved to Auckland.

Victoria Park market is mostly a tourist thing but I hadn't been there in a while so it was cool to have a look around. There's...

Crappy Day!

Hello!

Oscar is still very sick. Talking to the vet today he suggested we go out and see Oscar, because we might not get another chance. It was so sad to see him, so exhasted and tired that he was propping himself up against the wall of his little incubator. But when he realised it was Sarah holding him he struggled free and ran up her jacket to her shoulder. It was very hard to leave the vets.

We spoke to the vet again tonight he said he was looking a tiny bit better, but he didn't want to get our hopes up. Though I DO hope he's turning around, we'll find out tomorrow morning. If he's not looking better tomorrow morning I don't think we'll prolong his suffering (though he's not in pain) any longer.

So it's been a pretty shit day really.

We did go and watch a...

Liver Failure

Submitted by TiM on

Poor Oscar has liver failure. They managed to get some blood from him today but the vet said things got very dicey while he was under the anaesthetic so he didn't do the X-ray.

The blood tests show his red blood cell count is very low, thus why he gets exhasted so quickly. Also the other numbers relating to liver health were all over the place...

They are going to give him drugs that help with liver failure, hopefully later in the week he'll have picked up enough to knock him out again and snip off a tiny bit of liver. Then they can test it and find out exactly what the problem with his liver is.

It's still very touch and go for our little fluffy Oscar. But the vet is doing a fantastic job of looking after him and at least they know now what to treat. Hopefully...

Surf's Up!

Submitted by TiM on

Hello!

We did our second lot of surfing yesterday. You wouldn't have thought this time of year was very good for surfing but it was fantasic! It was sunny and the surf was really good, lots of nice breaking but small waves.

We had a different surf instructor this time. I thought he was better than the last guy we had, he took much more notice of us individually and offered tips etc. By the end of it I could stand up on almost all waves. It was SO much fun. Sarah was doing really well too, she stood up a few times. We're such pro's we're going to get ourselves a surf board and gears.

This time the instructor took photos of us while we were surfing. We got them at the end (as long as we'd paid our extra $20 of course) and they're really good. I haven't...

Long Week

Submitted by TiM on

Hello! It's been a long week and I'm pretty drained from it all. We got Oscar back yesterday, the vet says all the bacteria is out of his system. I'll post more later in this story.

Wednesday night was really good, I went out with a bunch of work people (As we seem to have done most Wednesday nights) and had a really good time.
A Vendor paid for all the drinks and the lovely meal so that was nice, it's almost like the old days of working at TelstraSaturn, apart from the long/stupid hours.

Thursday night I went to Sarah's Toastmasters group dinner. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned that Sarah does ToastMasters but she does, from talking to the people at the dinner it sounds like she's pretty good at it too. Beatty (workmate) had warned me that they'd try to brain wash me into joining but...
