Roving Reporter

Submitted by TiM on

Hello here I am reporting LIVE from outsite Vodafone New Zealand. We've just got word that Sarah IS inside, I'll repeat that, Sarah IS inside, we are all anxiously awaiting her safe arrival at the front door.
At that time we believe that a person known as "Tim" will be picking her up.

Oh and here she is, time to go!

Back From Roto

Submitted by TiM on

Hello! We're back from Rotorua. Such a shame that it rained all weekend, but we still had a really good time. Yesterday we just had a nice breakfast, did a bit of shopping at Farmers and then drove home. We were going to visit some bubbling mud and take some cool photos but then it started to piss with rain and we thought "Bubbling mud? Seen it!" and just drove home instead.

I forgot to mention that we entered the flower photo of Oscar into the Auckland SPCA calendar contest. Everyone always comments when they see it so we hope it's in with a good chance. I think it's cooler than the 500 pictures of "Fluffo the cat" that will be entered, here's hoping that the judges agree. He should be awarded a posthumous award for dedication to chirping at least!

I've got to go onsite to a client's...

Bubbling Roto-Vegas

Hello from Rotorua, the home of bubbling mud and the constant smell of rotten egg gas. Our hilarious joke to each other each time we get out of the car is "Did you fart?" Never gets any less funny. Ho ho ho.

Bit of a bugger though here because it's raining today so a few of the things we wanted to do (luge rides) we haven't been able to. But we still had a good look around town, had a snooze, had a swim in the hot pools at the Polynesian spas and generally have had a pretty good time despite the crappy weather.

After my visit to Wellington the other day we (Prophecy) have landed the job there. Which is excellent because it means I'll have something interesting to occupy my time with but also a real bugger because it means I'll have to spend my weekdays (and nights)...

Hello lovely reader(s), how are you today?
Not much too exciting happening here in Auckland, I made Sushi tonight but it didn't really turn out very well, mostly due to lack of decent preparation. You need to get too many little "bits" to put in the sushi and when all's said and done that's just too much effort. It's not that it was terrible it just wasn't very good. Nor was the Miso soup either, I served it up too cold.
I think I'll stick to letting the experts make sushi.

But when it comes to coffee, I'm the man! There's a specialist coffee roaster just up the road from me so I went there for a visit at lunchtime. She gave me some ground coffee and some coffee beans. They smell so lovely and strong that they're currently stinking up the pantry.

Speaking of flash toys that are fun...

More Coffee Excitement

Submitted by TiM on

It was a lovely sunny Sunday today which makes a nice change. We went out to St Lukes to look at cameras and makeup. While Sarah was in Farmers looking at various makeup things I went into KMart and purchased myself a coffee bean grinder! Yea! Now I can have super fresh coffee every morning after grinding up my own beans. It's only a really cheapie $20 one, Sarah seemed to think that $100 was a little too much to spend on a coffee bean grinder (and I have to say I agree with her)

Driving back from St Lukes we came SO close to being in a car crash. The other guy wasn't looking at all and went to do a U turn and only just missed us as I swerved the car violently. Actually it looks like he just scrapped us a tiny bit but that was all...

A Lot Like Fleas

Hello! I went out to the SPCA today. A pretty uneventful day apart from when one of the dogs was pulling on the hose which was feeding in under the door. I tried pulling on the hose, which put upwards pressure on the door. Before I knew it "Pop!", off came the door. I was left holding a large steel door with 3 excited dogs behind it wanting to come out. Thankfully one of the ladies on my shift helped me out and after a lot of laughing we managed to get the cage door back on its hinges. No ubu's managed to escape.

Our visitors left this morning, leaving us a very nice letter. They were a lovely couple, very friendly and with a great sense of humour. They were hiring a motor home to travel around New Zealand for a month. We didn't hear them leave because we...

Overseas Visitors

Our visitors from Belgium have arrived, now that we've got the date right. Lien and Koen arrived about 3pm and crashed pretty much straight away. Can't say that I blame them after 30 hours of planes and airports! They're really nice anyway and they bought of 3 bottles of Belgian beer! I'll try them soon and let you know what I think Helen!

We went out to the airport tonight to meet Sarah's parents and their friends, they're heading over to Rarotonga for two weeks. We just went out to see them off and to keep them company while they waited for their plane.

Not too much else to tell you I don't think, I'm planning on updating my photo gallery sometime soon with all the pictures I've got that I haven't posted. Though they're all on Sarah's Flickr (link up the top there) so you're not going to be...

The Thing Works!

Hello!
I took the thing (it's a present for someone, thus why I'm not saying what it is) back to the lady I'd bought it off tonight. She, her husband and myself spent 15 mintues pulling it to bits (it's made to be pulled apart) and realised what the problem was. When the last person to put it away had done so, they'd disconnected a vital piece of it that'd stop it working. We fixed it and it's great! So that was a nice outcome.

Isn't modern technology great? My Dad's ADSL connection was turned on yesterday and amazingly I managed to configured the ADSL box correctly so it just worked! I had another chat to him on Skype tonight, it's so cool that I can now ring (and message) my father online! Hi Dad, great to chat to you last night, welcome to the "virtual" world.

I have some...

You Spin Me Round Like A Record!

Got a postcard from Mother today, she sent it from New York. Thanks Mum!

I'm a numpty. I went out to buy something off TradeMe. I had the choice there of testing it but I decided not too (it would have involved plugging lots of cables in) but the lady was sure it'd work and said I could take it back if it didn't.

Well I got the thing home and damnit, it doesn't work! But I rang the lady up and she said she's very sorry and I'm welcome to take it back. So I will tomorrow, otherwise BAD FEEDBACK for her! She seems really nice though. Lesson learnt though, even if it's a hassle test before buying!

Yesterday we bought some Chilli and lime drinking cordial. That's right, it's water mix cordial, but with a chilli kick. And boy, does it have a kick! It makes me cought...

Networking Guru 2

More network fixing today! Our neighbour next door Mark came over asking for a little bit of help with his network. I was a bit confused to start with so we actually ended up calling Technical Support. But they really had no idea what they were talking about either, I feel so sorry for people who have to ring these people up for help. They don't really have much idea of what they're doing either so it's the blind leading the blind!

After a bit of playing around I managed to get it all sorted out. He was pretty relieved I think, it was a setup he needed to get going for a conference he's attending the next couple of days.

This afternoon we went to see the movie "You, Me and Dupree" and I have to say it was pretty crap. One of those movies that claimed to be...
