Cool Toys

Submitted by TiM on

Check out this post on my mate Phill's site. They sound really cool, I wish I had a couple here. Though I only have Sky in my Wellington apartment and they'd piss me off blabbing in the middle of the night. Still, very cool. Almost as cool as the new Apple iphone.

Only other bit of exciting news is that they have kindly organised a Karate grading for me in the first week of February. I better not get sick again or I'll be really pissed off.

Rage against the rain.

Fun's Over! Back To Work!

Submitted by TiM on

Floop. That was the sound of my enthusiasm when I went looking for it this morning. It’s very depressing to be back in Wellington and back at work, back in my little apartment and back to the working life. Hell it’s still the same room even, which I don’t mind at all. At least they seem to have cleaned the bathroom this time, there is no trace of the uber stink that used to live in there. Which I didn’t cause in case you don’t remember that article!

We had a great time in Napier. We did lots and lots of pretty much nothing. Kelly and Anisa came down for 4-5 days and the whole time they were with us the weather was shocking. Cold, wet and windy. Like the Jimmy Barnes concert on New Years Eve, though we didn’t really let the weather get us down too much. I...

Happy New Year

Submitted by TiM on

Happy New Year everyone. Hope that it was a good one for you. We had a great time at the Jimmy Barnes concert. It wasn't quite what we expected, but that was only around the venue. The concert itself was really good despite the rain.

Welcome 2007! Let's hope it's a good one.

Hello Again From Sunny Napier

Submitted by TiM on

Hello again from lovely sunny Napier. Though it's not living up to its reputation today as it's overcast and crappy. I shouldn't expect it to be sunny every day though.

We're in town at the moment doing a bit of shopping at all the sales. I just saw Sensai Ralph walking down the street, he came over and said a brief hello. He often takes the morning Kata class and is very strict, but in a good way. It's nice that he recognised me.

And now 30 minutes after I wrote that (but didn't post it, I was a cafe) we've just bumped into Mike Bowers, a guy I used to work with at TelstraClear. Mike's a great bloke, I still remember the time he ordered us a whole tonne of beer just because one of the routers in Auckland had an uptime of 5 years. Go c4.akl, it's now...

Happy Christmas 2006!

Submitted by TiM on

Happy Christmas everyone! It was a lovely sunny day here in Napier. We got woken up nice and early by Sarah who forgets how old she is sometimes and thinks she's 8 again! It was actually 8:30 we got up which isn't too early at all.
We had a great present unwrapping and breakfast, thanks everyone for all the cool presents that I got.
We had a lovely lunch (lamb and veggies) and then a bit of a bludge, a swim in the pool and more of a bludge. That's about all really! It's been a great day. Seeya!

The Lolocopter is cleared for take off

Hello. If you're bored you can now change the theme of this site. Just pull down the menu up there on the right, pick a theme and click on "Switch". Enough excitement there to keep you amused for seconds, if not minutes.

What an action packed morning it's been. The network that's been fairly stable the last couple of weeks had a big demo today. An hour before it was due to start we realised that large parts of the network weren't actually working. Lots of people got quite excited about this. Sadly there's nothing we can do to help, we're just there to test not debug/fix. With only minutes to go they managed to get everything up and going again. Well, pretty much.

Only today and tomorrow (which is only a half day) before holidays, sweet holidays. I hope everyone else is having a good time on leave. I...

Running Shoes

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah and I have started running. I don't think I've mentioned this. I included myself in there but really it's mostly Sarah doing all the running. She found this cool thing online that works you through the steps to get from not running at all to being a pro. You start off running for 30 seconds, walking for 30 seconds and repeat that 6 times. Then the next week it's a little harder, running for a minute then rest for a minute. I probably have the numbers wrong. But I join Sarah when I'm there and it's a really good workout!

The upshot of this is that I realised I needed some shoes that didn't suck. The only shoes I had to run in where my skate shoes and they weren't very bouncy. I'd looked in the shoe stores but I was buggered if I was going to pay $120...

So Slack!

Submitted by TiM on

I'm so slack at updating this thing, I try but it's hard. I get annoyed with myself though because when I go to look back at stuff a year later it's not here.

I'm sitting out at the Auckland Qantas domestic terminal for my last flight to Wellington, at least for a little while. At the end of the week I'm flying direct to Napier for Christmas and then once Christmas is done and dusted I'm flying direct back to Wellington again.

We had a really good weekend. Saturday we talked about going surfing, we still needed to actually use our new surfboard. But instead we went into town to get ourselves some tickets for the excitement that is going to be Jimmy Barnes on New Years Eve, in Napier! Yea, of all the weird places that Jimmy's going to be he's picked Napier. Diesel is also a guest, though...
