In Its Natural Form!

Submitted by TiM on

I'm still trying to find the perfect theme for my website. It's hard, they never look quite how I'd like them to and I don't have any programming skills to alter them. I could learn, but I can't be bothered.
We've had another good weekend, I went to Karate on Saturday morning while Sarah went and got herself a haircut. A haircut for me is a 5 minute thing I think to do on the way home. A haircut for Sarah is a planned 5-weeks ahead 3 hour session. Her new haircut looks really nice though (so she keeps reminding me every hour)

I am going to sign up to Karate here, I've been meaning to go for the last few Saturday mornings but always something else came up so that I didn't end up going. Karate's going to be Saturday, Monday and Wednesday nights which works out really well...

Winter's Here

Time for a bit of a long bunch of words that don't make much sense. I'm sitting on the bus heading from the office to the tube station, it's always a long boring ride. It's made even more depressing today because of the fact it's wet and miserable outside, so the bus is all fogged up. Oh, time to get off, we're here.

So it's the next morning now. Last night we went to Hell Pizza with Cass and stuffed our faces for a couple of hours. £5 each for all the pizza you can eat, can't really complain about that.

On the way back home, waiting for the tube at Earl's Court I witnessed a pigeon happily hopping on the tube for a free ride to the next station. I would think they'd freak right out as the train pulled out of the station and starts shaking around, but...

Still Here

We're still here. I haven't had much time to update my diary of late, so busy busy! Well not really, I'm just slack. We had a good weekend, we got up early on Saturday and went bike riding. I was feeling better after being home sick Thursday and Friday. We tried to find the Deer Park but missed it, instead we did a bit of shopping and eating around Richmond. On the ride home I got a flat tire and was very annoyed, but the bike shop fixed it for me for a tenner which was nice.

I got my...

Biker Team

Submitted by TiM on

This weekend was the Hovis bike around famous London landmarks weekend. Bit of a bugger though as we didn't register in time (we didn't realise you had to register) so we weren't able to take part in it. Plus Sarah didn't have a bike, so that would have been a little bit of a problem as well.

Friday night we headed into town to met up with Cass and her friend Joe, plus Ricki when he decided to turn up. We'd made plans the previous weekend to go and Salsa dance it up!
We had a strange meal at this resturant in Oxford Circus, the resturant looked really nice but seemed a little too empty for such a busy, bustling Friday night. We ordered our meals, 3 of which were supposed to come with fries. When our fries arrived we got two baskets of them, so we mentioned this and...

Trumpeting

It's been a fairly miserable few days since my last diary posting, because Dad's in hospital at the moment. It's so stressful being so far away and not able to do anything to help. Here's hoping you get well soon Dad.
We had a fairly good weekend considering, Saturday we met up with Cass and went to see a really interesting market, full of nice smelly cheese, chocolate things and fruit. Then we went and hung out at the Thames festival for about 4 hours, looking at all the street performers, stalls and other nifty thing.

Sunday we went to look at another market, which was a little bit like Salamanca market. Nowhere near as cool, but much more interesting than the usual same-same markets that I'm so used to seeing.

We've been ordering our groceries from an online supermarket, they're supposed to be the best but they're pretty crap...

Working Man

Submitted by TiM on

I start work and my poor diary gets totally ignored. That's mostly because I don't have heaps to talk about anymore. I get up, have breakfast, have a huge mug of coffee in my new uber mug, walk with Sarah to the tube station, get on the tube. Ride the tube, still enjoy that part, get off, walk to the bus stop. Fight the utter masses at the bus stop to get on the 235/237 bus towards work. It usually takes 3-4 buses before I manage to get on one, what with all the claws, arms and legs flying around. I was nice for the first few days, but now I just scrum up with everyone else. I use my laptop to bash people. I usually manage to get to work by 9, which is when I'm supposed to start.

Work is really cool and really scary! It's scary because...

New Look!

Time for a change, so I've installed a new theme that looks a lot better in IE6 than the old one did. How excellent is the logo that Sarah made? It's 100% excellent.
We had a good weekend, Karate yesterday as I mentioned and today we went to see Harrods. It was a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be, it's massive but it's full of really interesting stuff. We sat down for 15 minutes in a flash cafe and drank expensive but tasty hot chocolates.
Back to work tomorrow!

Highspeed Happiness

Submitted by TiM on

We have broadband. Highspeed, 20Mbps down/768kbps up highspeed. It's awesome, I can download a movie in a little over 20 minutes. It makes the ADSL "highspeed" we had in New Zealand look like dialup speeds.
All thanks to the cable man, who came yesterday to wire us up for modern living. We now have a phoneline (though currently no phone to plug into it), cable TV and of course uber Internet. Life is good.

We got up early and went to Karate this morning. It took a bit of talking, but finally Sarah agreed that she'd come along too. We had a really good time, the people at the local Seido Karate branch are really friendly, it's fun and good exercise like it always was, plus Sarah really did enjoy it! So next time you see us we'll both be Karate masters.

We're about to head back out to go...

Tubes Of Joy

Submitted by TiM on

This entry is all about the London Underground.

I love riding on the tube. There's so many different people to see, so many different interactions. So many people ignoring each other as they scream, stink, sleep, push, cram, act crazy (I do this) or just act "normal". I love to observe, while being acutely aware that I myself am being observed by everyone. I've been riding around on the tube for about 8 weeks now and every ride is still an adventure.

There's a big strike on today, it affected heaps of people but thankfully not me. Sarah left work...

Let The Good Times Roll!

What a most excellent week and weekend it's been. Work has been really good, though as I think I've mentioned already my boss was away for the rest of the week after my first day, so I had to hassle other people in my team to give me stuff to do so that I can learn the ropes. It's been made extra hard by the fact that I still don't have access to the commonly used computer systems, so even if I am given something to do, I'm not really able to do it very well as I can't access the information systems I need. Hopefully that'll all be sorted out this week, my boss will be back and can get angry at the IT people.

The role itself seems to be just what I was hoping it'd be, there's still enough technical knowledge required so that my brain won't...
