Pity The Fool

Submitted by TiM on

Hello!
When did I last write? Ages ago it seems, just after we got back from Barcelona. Next Tuesday we're off to Thailand, which we're both really looking forward to. It's going to be two weeks of sun and fun, catching up with Kelly and not doing a real lot except island hopping.

On Sunday Sarah pushed me up to the "spare room" we have in our apartment, the little storage area where we keep all our stuff, to get down our backpacks. We don't really have to be as careful packing as we were last time though, we're only going for 2 weeks instead of 2 months. I still can't decide if to take my laptop or not, Sarah's set though she's got her little iPod with it's wireless magic. How I mentioned how amazing her new iPod is? Everyone who looks at it can't actually believe it.

The Rain In Spain Didn't Fall

We're back! Sorry for the lack of updates, but the Internet in the work provided hotel wasn't free. It was something really, really stupid like 10 Euro's for 30 minutes. This was a 5 Star Hotel (aparently) and they obviously like to totally rip their guests off. A beer was 7 Euros. Stupid!
Apart from the ripoff hotel, we had a fantastic time. Hardly a minute was spent sitting still.

We got up bright and early on Sunday morning, grabbed our bag that we managed to pack in the wee hours of Saturday night and headed off to the Tube. It's so handy living on the Picadilly Line, you just jump on and you're at Heathrow in 30 minutes. There were lots of people from work at the airport that I knew, though we all tended to pretend we didn't see each other as it was just way to early...

Happy 29th Feb!

Submitted by TiM on

It doesn't happen very often, but happy 29th of February! Yes the excitement is so great I can hear you all jumping for joy.

We're off to Barcelona this weekend for my company's big Kickoff thing. It should be lots of fun, I've got my Tux, Sarah has her accumulation of 3 weeks worth of shopping! We're all set to go.

We just have to pack of course, which is very typical of us. We don't leave until Sunday though so I'm sure we'll find some time in there somewhere to get it done.

We went around to Maggie...

Suit Shopping

Submitted by TiM on

Bought two new suits today. One's a tuxedo, the other's just a normal work suit. £300 all up, but they're both really nice and I'm quite happy with them. Don't really care so much about the Tux, though Sarah did some good talking to get them to thrown in a really nice £30 shirt in with the Tux. The suit however is quite awesome, and you know me, I don't get excited about suits at all. That's how awesome it is.

I also forgot to mention in my last story about Hull, what a nice place it was. It has...

Last Weekend And Sarah's Birthday Bash

Submitted by TiM on

I have to write all this down because otherwise I'll forget to do it and in 2 years when I look back it won't be here and I'll be damn annoyed with myself. As I am now sometimes when I look back two years and there's stuff missing. So anyway, this is a catch up for last weekend and a few other bits and pieces that have happened this week. Here we go.

By the way, if you still don't see any line breaks (ie all the paragraphs are all joined together) hold down Control and press R. That should clear the cache and fix it.

So anyway, Saturday morning we got up bright and early and caught the tube into Central London to Kings Cross Station. The one on the Monopoly board actually. We had to go the long way (Acton Town to Ealing Broadway, Ealing Broadway Central Line...

Self Harm?

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah's got a bad sinus infection at the moment, so she's taking some medicines to help her breath and that sort of thing. Last night she'd left her Sudafed at work, so I told her there was a packet in the bathroom and to take a couple of those. What I'd forgotten was the packet in the bathroom was twice as strong as normal ones. Once she'd taken two we realised looking on the box, where it said "Only take one!" and "Do Not Exceed The Stated Dose!" in big letters. So we thought we'd ring the NHS Health Service and ask them, just to make sure one extra wasn't going to do any harm.
Well, it was one of the most hilarious phonecalls I've ever had to make.

The conversation went like this:

Me: "Hi my girlfriend accidentally took two Sudafed instead of one, it says to only take...

A Hull Week

Submitted by TiM on

Friday already? The time just goes to fast. It hasn't been a very exciting week though, thus the lack of updates. This weekend promises to be fun though, we're heading up to Hull to see a bunch of people from our Truck Trip. I'm really looking forward to it. Even though Hull is supposed to be super dodgy.

Actually I lied about it not being an exciting week, of course there was Monday! Sarah's birthday. I had to rush out on Sunday to do a bit of last minute shopping for it, which worked out well for Sarah too. I bought her presents and she got to sleep in, though she did come into town afterwards and join me for a coffee at Flat White and some sushi at a really cool Sushi train place. Sushi trains are awesome, tasty food that you don't have to wait for, it's just...

Waitangi Day, London Style

Submitted by TiM on

It was the big Kiwi Waitangi Day celebration yesterday so Sarah and I decided to head in to see the 4pm Haka done by everyone. We'd also arranged to meet Matt and Claire (also Kiwi's). We caught the tube in, via Ealing Broadway instead of directly. They are doing engineering works this weekend so all trains East bound (i.e. Towards central London) aren't running. I suspect a plan on behalf of Transport for London to stop people getting to the event.

(Here's the TVNZ Story on it, the only media story I can find about it!)

We got off at...

Bang Bang Bang!

Submitted by TiM on

Bang! Bang! Bang! That's what the pipes decided they would start doing last night at 2:15am, just to annoy us. It was so loud, Sarah thought we were being broken into and I was trying to remember the Lord's Prayer! But it was just the hot water boiler valve complaining because it'd run out of water/pressure. I got out of bed and tested the taps, they didn't work so I rang up Thames Water (one of my favourite companies) and asked them what was going on. Just some water techie in the area trying to find a leak, they turn...

I Have A Theory...

Another bunch of days without an entry - I'm getting so slack at this! Nowhere near as bad as Sarah though, she's got her new website address (http://sarahchats.com) and everything and she's not showing it off. Maybe I should get a new URL? tjharman is a bit of a boring name and not very web2.0. I wish I'd thought to register lots of cool domain names back when I first started out on the Internet (I think around 1996), but then so does everyone else.

It's the Waitangi Day celebration this weekend. Apparently, it's quite a big thing here in the UK. So's Australia Day, but we didn't actually do anything for that. Australia day is tiny compared to Waitangi day though, at least that's what everyone says. The TNT magazine (a free magazine printed once a week for us Aussies and Kiwis) has the uber guide for this weekends...
