Cranking Back Up

Submitted by TiM on

Auckland is slowly coming back to life after everyone's been away for holidays. The bus in the morning is now twice as packed and everyone's back at work, requesting I do stuff! What a pain in the butt.

Things are going well though. We had a good weekend though it was over all too quickly. Oh yes, our plants are coming along really well. They're at the point now where we really should be eating them! But I'm not sure I can eat them after all the effort we've put into growing them. I must take another photo to document their progress before we tuck in.

I've started running again on a fairly regular basis which is good. Scott is a good running companion, he can go faster than me so pushes me a bit harder each time without being mental about it. It's going well though, already I can...

Banks. Sigh.

Hello!
We drove back up from Napier last night, stopping in on the way at Kelly's to say hello and swap some Christmas presents. I thought the drive back would be mental but it was actually pretty good. Our car goes really well, it's easy to overtake and it handles really nicely, so that makes driving a lot less stressful. Though it's not the MR2! The only problem with it is the stereo. It's got a 3 CD stacker built into it, which is actually pretty cool. But the stupid thing refuses to read any burnt CD's, it'll only read proper original ones. Which meant we were stuck with the same 2 CD's for the first half of the trip. We stopped at the Warehouse though along the way and Sarah bought a double CD of "Feel Good" music, which made things a lot better!

We got home and I...

Happy New Year 2010!

Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone had a great New Year's, we had a very quiet one, just sat on the couch watching the Flight of the Conchords special on TV. Still, it's nice to relax and that's what we did, so I'm happy! At mightnight I went outside and checked to make sure it was exactly midnight (thanks, GPS!) before cheering. It was an amazing full moon which was pretty neat. I couldn't see any fireworks or anything, but I could hear a few houses around the place cheering.
Napier has been lovely and relaxing, as it always seems to be. The weather has been pretty much super sunny all the time, though today seems to be a little bit overcast and unwelcoming. It'll make a nice change from it being so hot and sticky, though again I can't complain because Sarah's parents have a pool and we haven't...

Auckland at Christmas

Submitted by TiM on

Last night at St Lukes wasn't too bad. It wasn't great either, but it manageable. When you've spent 9 months walking through Victoria Station (in the opposite direction to everyone else), a few people shopping late at night is never going to seem too bad in comparison.

We got all our shopping done in one big trip, so that's a nice relief.

While we were gone they have upgraded the Sky Tower. It now flashes different colours at night when it's lit up for Christmas, it actually looks like a giant Christmas Tree. It's really neat.

Giant Santa has had...

Last minute Christmas Shopping

We're doing our Christmas shopping tonight. The Malls are all open until Midnight, so seeing as neither of us have done much shopping, we're going tonight. It's going to be totally mental, at least, that's what I'm preparing myself for. If it's anything like Queen St was on Saturday morning it'll just be zombie quiet.

In other news, this is my first real test of my email poster thing. Fingers crossed.

Smaller, Faster, Better?

I've setup my diary so I can post to it via my email. Which means I can post from my blackberry etc. Or look like I'm writing a big, serious email at work when in fact I'm writing a diary entry.
So (hopefully) I'll tend to write more posts, but they'll be shorter and more stupid. But hey. They're stupid enough already.

It's Nearly Christmas

Hello from the Auckland train station. Second to last day before Christmas holidays, though it doesn't feel at all like Christmas to me. I'm going to guess the 4 months off in the middle of year has something to do with that.

We had a good weekend, got a lot of little things completed. Saturday morning we met up with Holly and Adrian and a couple of their friends, they'd come up the night before to go to the Greenday concert. I don't really care much for Greenday anymore, but it sounds like we missed a pretty good show, everyone's been raving about it.

Our little herb garden is going really well, except for the rocket that seems to be getting eaten by some unseen pest. I was going to get it some insecticide, but it's expensive and it's just a fancy lettace really isn't it? So it better figure...

Plants!

We purchase a bunch of herbs yesterday to grow out the back of our little apartment. We got them a couple of nice little wooden planter boxes and some soil. They even got their own little watering can as well, lucky things.

We've got Mint, Corriander, Parsley, Thyme, Spinach, Chives, Basil and something else I can't remember.
It's very exciting, I hope they live!

I also went out and got the car window replaced yesterday. Insurance was very good, I didn't have to fill out any paperwork or anything. Just drove it out there, waited for bloody hours and then drove it back repaired. Would have been nice if they could have fixed it under 4 hours, but apparently a 10:30 appointment doesn't really mean much.

Today we're off to see Scott and Charlotte, people from our first Truck Trip (the Middle East one). It'll be good to catch up...

Work, Cars, Jobs, Christmas

Happy Fucking Christmas everyone! Our car got broken into last night (though we didn't notice until this afternoon.) They only stole the TomTom GPS, which we forgot to take off the dashboard. Little fuckers though, it was parked in our driveway and everything. Thankfully insurance will give us a new window at no cost. Shame about the GPS, but it was only a really cheapie little one.

Oh yes! Sarah has uploaded lots of new photos to the Flickr website. Be sure to check them out. There's heaps from our time in Africa.

Otherwise, everything is going well! Our landlord has finally fixed all the little outstanding issues we've had. Sarah has got herself a job and she starts next week!

My job is going really well, I'm loving it heaps!

So yea! We're still both doing good here. Sorry it's a boring update, but there's not much else to...
